Peace-symbol
In the year 1958, the peace-symbol was designed for protest marches to enforce nuclear disarmament. It is pieced together of the signs for "-N"- (=nuclear) and "-D"- (=disarmament) taken from the Winker alphabet, the alphabet for the transmittance of messages between ships. Thereby, the peace-symbol became a universal symbol with a strong impact on peace movements.
