Holda Blend

Holda is the winter side of Freya, the goddess of love. In Germanic mythology, Freya is the life-creating goddess. Mrs Holle in Grimm's fairy tales is reminiscent of her. The earthy-sweet character of the smoke creates a connection to the female pole of the Germanic cosmos.

Germanic Incense Blends

Ancient Germanic tribes were nature-loving people for whom incense rituals were a natural part of their lives. Most of what we can learn today about this past culture is based on myths and excavations. For example, many archaeological excavations have uncovered so-called ‘incense cakes’. These are clumps of resin and plant remains indicating incense substances used. Well combined with mythological, logical and intuitive knowledge, this results in a rich treasure of ‘Germanic knowledge’, which we aim to revive with our Germanic Incense Blends. As the symbol for this incense series, Christian Rätsch has chosen the Shaman God Wotan in his eagle form.
‘The eagle is the classic shaman bird. Wotan can assume the form of an eagle and fly into other realities. He is the god who strives for knowledge; he wants to know everything, he wants knowledge. Wotan is the master of the art of wizardry. The art of wizardry is what we call Shamanism.’ from: Christian Rätsch - The Sacred Grove.
