Cedar Wood – from true cedar (Cedrus libani, Cedrus atlantica) or Virginia juniper (Juniperus virginiana, known in North America as "Red Cedar") – is an aromatic, reddish wood with a warm, spicy-sweet, and velvety fragrance.
The cedars of Lebanon were considered the most sacred of all trees in antiquity and were used in the construction of Solomon's Temple. In North American indigenous traditions, cedar is, alongside sage and palo santo, one of the most important purifying agents. As an incense, cedar wood is said to cleanse spaces, offer protection, and create a warm, sheltering atmosphere.
Use: Place shavings or pieces on incense charcoal. A warm, spicy forest fragrance – very popular and accessible.
