Wiki / Sudanese Frankincense

Frankincense Sudan is harvested from Boswellia papyrifera, which also occurs in Ethiopia and Eritrea. The Sudanese resin has a slightly different character from its Ethiopian counterparts – it tends to be somewhat more resinous and less citrusy, with a warmer, deeper undertone.

Sudan lies on the ancient trade routes and was part of the frankincense trade routes of antiquity. Sudanese communities in the frankincense-growing regions have developed their own incense traditions. As an incense, Sudanese frankincense is said to have a strengthening, grounding, and protective effect.

Use: Place resin granules on incense charcoal. A warm, deep frankincense fragrance.
