Wiki / Somali Frankincense

Frankincense Somalia comes from Boswellia carterii, a tree native to the coastal regions of Somalia. It is one of the most important and widely traded frankincense varieties worldwide. The fragrance is powerful, fresh, citrusy-resinous, and slightly camphorated.

Somalia has been one of the most significant frankincense exporters in the world since antiquity – the country lay directly on the trade route to "Punt", which was already known to the ancient Egyptians. Somali frankincense is the backbone of many ecclesiastical and ritual incense blends worldwide. As an incense it is powerfully purifying and elevating.

Use: Place resin granules on incense charcoal. Classic church frankincense – powerful and familiar.
