Frankincense Ethiopia is obtained mainly from Boswellia papyrifera, a tree that grows in the mountain regions of northern Ethiopia and Eritrea. The resin is characterized by a fresh, slightly citrusy, green-herbaceous fragrance that is brighter and less resinous than Arabian frankincense.
Ethiopia is one of the oldest frankincense-trading countries in the world – the ancient frankincense trade route passed through this land. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church uses frankincense intensively in its services. As an incense, Ethiopian frankincense is said to have a purifying, elevating, and connecting effect with the divine.
Use: Place resin granules on incense charcoal. A fresh, pleasant frankincense fragrance – very accessible, even for beginners.
