Tara (Sanskrit: star, saviour) is one of the most important female Buddhas in Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism. She is considered the mother of all Buddhas and embodies different qualities in her many forms: Green Tara stands for active compassion and swift help in times of need; White Tara for longevity, healing and wisdom.
Tara is said to have attained enlightenment as a human princess through aeons of practice – and vowed always to appear in female form for as long as beings live in suffering. She is the goddess of crossing – she helps to overcome the obstacles of life. In Western spirituality, Tara has become a symbol of feminine spiritual power.
Incense for Tara: For Green Tara: juniper berries, fresh herbs, green tea. For White Tara: white sandalwood, lotus flowers, camphor.
