Wiki / Sal Resin

Sal Resin (also Dhoop) is obtained from the Sal Tree (Shorea robusta), one of the holiest trees of India and Nepal. The yellowish to brownish resin has a pleasantly balsamic, slightly smoky and resinous fragrance.

The Sal Tree is sacred in Hinduism and Buddhism – Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) is said to have been born beneath a Sal Tree. In India, Sal Resin (Dhoop) is burned daily in temples and homes. It is considered purifying, protective and beneficial. One of the main ingredients of traditional Indian incense sticks.

Use: Place resin granules on incense charcoal. Pleasantly balsamic fragrance – ideal for daily incense rituals.
