Wiki / Palo Santo

Palo Santo (Spanish: "Holy Wood", botanically Bursera graveolens) is a tropical tree from the dry forests of Ecuador, Peru and other South American countries. What makes it special: the wood only develops its intense fragrance after the natural death of the tree – a process that takes at least 4–10 years.

Palo Santo has been used for centuries by South American shamans and healers for ceremonies, cleansings and healing rituals. Its fragrance – sweet, citrusy, resinous with vanilla notes – is said to drive away evil spirits, promote healing and attract positive energy. Today it is one of the world's most popular incense woods.

Caution: Use only certified sustainably harvested Palo Santo. Use: Light the wood directly, allow it to burn briefly, then blow it out.
