Wiki / Mastic

Mastic (from Pistacia lentiscus, the mastic shrub of the island of Chios in Greece) is one of the best-known and oldest incense resins in the world. The clear, teardrop-shaped resin crystals have a fresh, resinous-piney fragrance with light citrus and herbal notes.

Mastic has been prized since antiquity and was an important trading commodity of the Mediterranean world. The ancient Egyptians used it for mummification, the Greeks for oral and dental care, the Church as an incense resin. As a spiritual incense, mastic is said to be purifying, brightening and mind-strengthening.

Use: Place crystals on incense charcoal. Fresh, clear fragrance – ideal for daily space cleansing.
