Wiki / Mullein Flowers

Mullein Flowers come from the impressive Mullein (Verbascum thapsus and related species), which grows with its metre-high yellow flower spikes on waste ground and roadsides. The dried flowers release a gentle, slightly honey-sweet fragrance when burned.

Mullein was known in antiquity as the "torch of the gods" – its stems dipped in tallow served as torches. In magical tradition it is considered a protective herb that keeps evil spirits at bay and bestows courage. Mullein flowers were used in protective incense and for rituals connected with light.

Use: Place dried flowers on incense charcoal. Mild, gentle smoke.
