Wiki / Dammar Resin

Dammar is a fossil or freshly extracted tree resin from South-East Asia, primarily from trees of the genera Shorea and Hopea (family Dipterocarpaceae). The clear to milky-white resin crystals and lumps burn with a fresh, slightly citrusy-resinous fragrance.

In Indonesia, Malaysia and other parts of South-East Asia, dammar has traditionally been used as an incense resin, sealant and varnish resin. Spiritually it is considered purifying and light-bringing. Dammar burns very cleanly with little residue and is therefore also popular in Western incense practice as a straightforward cleansing resin.

Use: Place crystals or pieces on incense charcoal. Melts and vaporises quickly – fresh, pleasant fragrance.
