The Bodhi Tree (Sacred Fig, Ficus religiosa) is the holiest tree in the world according to Buddhism – it was beneath its shade that Siddhartha Gautama is said to have attained enlightenment. Leaves, bark or wood from the Bodhi Tree are used as incense for deep spiritual practice.
The fragrance of Bodhi wood and leaves is delicate, slightly resinous and grounding. In Buddhist temples across Asia, the Bodhi Tree is the centre of prayer and meditation. As an incense it is said to calm the mind, enable deep meditation and strengthen the connection with one's own higher self.
Use: Place dried leaves or small pieces of wood on incense charcoal. Subtle, meditative fragrance – ideal for meditation practice.
