Wiki / Star Anise

Star Anise (Illicium verum) is the star-shaped fruit of a tree native to southern China and Vietnam. As an incense, the characteristic fruits release an intense, sweet-spicy fragrance similar to anise, but warmer and fuller.

In Chinese tradition, star anise is a symbol of good luck and is used in temples and at rituals. As an incense it is said to attract luck, promote spiritual connections and strengthen psychic abilities. In folk magic it is used for divination rituals and to attract helping spirits.

Use: Place whole fruits or parts thereof on incense charcoal. The fragrance is intense and sweet – a beautiful incense fragrance.
