Wiki / Incense Material

Incense material is a collective term for all materials that produce aromatic clouds of smoke when heated or burned. These include resins, herbs, woods, flowers, roots, bark and many other natural substances.

Burning incense is one of the oldest spiritual practices of humanity and is found in almost all cultures and religions of the world – from the shamanic traditions of Siberia to ancient temple practice to Christian frankincense. Incense materials are used to cleanse spaces and persons, for spiritual rituals, for meditation and simply for wellbeing.

Use: The method of use depends on the respective incense material. As a general rule: place on incense charcoal, burn in a smudge bundle or heat on the sieve of a fragrance lamp.
