Wiki / Kyphi

Kyphi (ancient Egyptian Kapet) is the legendary incense of the ancient Egyptians and is considered the oldest known incense blend in human history. Recipes were chiselled in stone in the temples of Edfu and Philae – a testament to their sacred significance. The elaborate preparation involved up to 16 ingredients, including myrrh, saffron, mastic, juniper, cinnamon, honey and wine.

Kyphi was offered to the gods – especially Ra and Osiris – and burned in the evening and at the solstice. The Greek physician Dioscorides described it as sleep-inducing and dream-bringing; Plutarch praised its calming and healing effects. Kyphi connects the world of the living with the world of the gods and is considered a gateway to deep stillness and inner vision.

Use: Place the ready-mixed incense on incense charcoal. Slowly and persistently fragrant – ideal for evening rituals and deep meditations.
