Wiki / Peru Copal

Peru Copal is an incense resin from Peru and other South American countries, obtained from native Bursera and Protium species. The resin has a characteristically soft, balsamic note that distinguishes it from Mexican copal varieties.

In the cultures of the Andes and the Amazon basin, copal is used in shamanic ceremonies, healing rituals and purification. Peruvian copal is said to have a deep, grounding effect and to strengthen the connection with the earth (Pachamama). Often used together with Palo Santo.

Use: Place resin granules on incense charcoal. The fragrance is warm, balsamic and slightly sweet.
