Amber is a fossil tree resin from the Tertiary period (30–50 million years ago) and is one of the oldest and most precious natural substances of humanity. When heated or burned, genuine amber releases a resinous, slightly sweet and characteristically warming fragrance that is reminiscent of ancient primeval forests.
In cultures around the Baltic Sea, amber has been regarded as a sun stone and divine gift since the Stone Age. It protects its wearer, cleanses spaces and is said to attract positive energy. In incense practice, amber is used for protection and purification rituals, grounding and strengthening life energy.
Note: Genuine amber is precious – commercial amber for incense purposes is often a copal (younger resin). Use: Place small pieces on incense charcoal. Pleasantly warm, resinous fragrance.
