Wiki / Benzoin Sumatra

Benzoin Sumatra (from Styrax benzoin, native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra) is a related but characteristically different benzoin resin from Siam benzoin. Its fragrance is deeper, spicier and slightly smoky, with balsamic undertones and a softer sweetness.

Sumatra benzoin is used in traditional Indonesian medicine and spirituality and is part of the oud incense blends of South-East Asia. As an incense it is said to cleanse spaces, dispel anxiety and warm the atmosphere. It also serves as a fixative in incense blends, as it prolongs and deepens the fragrance of other ingredients.

Use: Place granules on incense charcoal. Deep, balsamic fragrance – ideal as a base in your own incense blends.
