Mugwort from the Common Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is perhaps the most classic and versatile incense herb of Europe. The silver-green shimmering herb contains essential oils with thujone and camphor, and releases a spicy, herbaceous-aromatic and slightly bitter fragrance when burned.
Mugwort is associated with the moon goddess Artemis/Diana and has been the herb of travellers, dreamers and seers since antiquity. In incense practice it is used primarily for intensive dream work, to strengthen intuition and divination, and for protective incense during long journeys. In Japan it is known as "Moxa" and is part of traditional medicine.
Use: Place dried herb on incense charcoal or use as a smudge bundle. Use only in well-ventilated spaces.
