The Tree of Life is one of the most universal and significant symbols of humanity – it is found in almost all cultures and spiritual traditions of the world. As a cosmic image it connects heaven and earth, root and crown, matter and spirit. It stands for growth, connection, immortality and the unity of all life.

In the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism), the Tree of Life is a cosmic diagram of ten Sefirot (emanations of God) and 22 paths – a map of the universe and human consciousness. In Norse mythology it corresponds to Yggdrasil, the World Ash. In Egyptian tradition, the sycamore was the sacred tree of life of the goddess Hathor. In Christianity it stands in Paradise beside the Tree of Knowledge.

As a symbol in jewellery, wall art and ritual objects, the Tree of Life reminds us that we are part of a greater whole – rooted in the earth, reaching towards the light.
