Die Kohle nur auf eine Schicht Räuchersand oder auf das Netz des Gefäßes legen und nur mit einer Zange anfassen. Glühende Kohle nie unbeaufsichtigt lassen. Außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern und Haustieren verwenden. Nur in gut belüfteten Räumen räuchern und anschließend lüften: Glühende Kohle bildet giftiges Kohlenmonoxid. Auf eine ebene, hitzebeständige Unterlage stellen und Abstand zu brennbaren Gegenständen halten. Beim Umhertragen darauf achten, dass keine Glut herausfällt. Sand, Asche und Kohlereste vollständig erkalten lassen, bevor sie ausgeleert werden.
